Brick by brick I built a wall to help me seal
Impurities from breaking down
This city's patterned grid, disorderly unique
But clay eroded into sound

Now I sprint to open land and lie beneath the stars
Where constellations have the independence of
A teenage rock and rolling band

A couple years at least, seven days a week
I waited for the moon to rise
Displays it's wounded white for all the sinner's restless nights
Proof we're all caught up in this fight

I went beneath the surface and trekked Poseidon's lawn
Contrived a seaweed cast
Laid out in the garden and watched all of the squid swim past

If God would write a song the notes would be unknown
Although familiar to my heart
A serotonin drip, repeat on my playlist
I want to be absorbed by love

They say songs have the power to take you anywhere
So I'll stay in my room and write myself a better place to be
I'm swept along with weightless melodies
And I'll wait for the day when the next is spent eternally
